Vibe Syndicate 5678, the legacy and live Lloyd’s syndicate, has continued its expansion with the appointment of Duncan King as Head of Casualty Treaty. King has been Head of Reinsurance at Fairfax Financial’s Lloyd’s (re)insurer Advent since 2011.
Prior to his role at Advent, King was a Casualty Treaty underwriter at Brit from 2005. Before this he was a reinsurance broker at JLT.
Joe Reeves, another member of Advent’s Casualty Treaty team, will also join Vibe.
These appointments are a continuation of Vibe’s expansion as it builds its live platform following approval from Lloyd’s to start underwriting from 1st July 2014. In March, Vibe announced that Joe Sweeting had been hired. Joe headed Hiscox’s expansion into US Casualty Treaty. Clive Archer, previously at Ace, is the other senior member of Vibe’s growing Casualty Treaty team. Clive focuses on international business.
In March, Vibe announced that Matt Waghorn would be joining as a Professional Indemnity underwriter, focusing on North American binder business, with his team also joining Vibe.
At the end of 2015, Steve Hart joined from AmTrust’s Lloyd’s business to lead expansion into Credit, Surety, Political Risk and Terrorism.
Previous hires include Andy Palmer, who heads the Professional Indemnity team and joined from Markel, and Stephen Hankey, Accident and Health underwriter, who was previously at American International Group.
Bradley Knight, Chief Underwriting Officer, said “I look forward to Duncan joining the team at Vibe. We are building the underwriting platform cautiously given the current market conditions and it is critical that we recruit experienced underwriters who share our disciplined approach and focus on long term profitability.”
Dinah Gately, CEO of Vibe, said “Duncan is one of a number of high quality underwriters who have been attracted to our small but expanding underwriting platform. This is evidence that our long term vision of disciplined underwriting in a culture that encourages entrepreneurship and accountability will create the long term success we are striving to achieve.”
